How could this happen?

How could be have puppy mills? I mean I know there are no laws against it, but how could anyone want to start something like this up and keep them going.

I believe that it is all about the mighty dollar. Companies will do anything to increase profit so keeping animals in small cages and not caring for them properly makes them more money. This does not just occur in puppy mills but also in livestock. Pigs and chickens are kept in tiny cages, covered in feces. Their short lives are pure torture. We, as a country, need to stand up and not support companies that treat animals like products. They are living, breathing, thinking, feeling beings and it is not ok to torture them for profit.
Like you said, the best thing is to adopt animals in the case of puppy mills. In the meat industry, the best thing is to eat little or none of it. Or you can buy from companies that are cruelty free. But sometimes even if they are marked humane, you can not be sure.
The other thing we can do is pressure our politicians to make more stringent laws against these practices.

Well "bad" people like puppy mills cause they can breed and sell a lot more for less money. The bad thing is that they dont take care of the poor puppies while they are at it.

Guess it is matter of money mostly, it shocks me sometimes what people do to make extra money.

Feel sorry for the mom's and dad's, just breeding one right after the other
