My dog Marley is very hyper to say the least and I would like to get him a dog door to get out some extra energy while I am at work. There are 2 problems with this.
First of all he loves to chase squirrels and he is extremely fast. I am worried that he would wait on the other side of the dog door until he heard/smelled a squirrel and he would burst out and murder a cute little squirrel. He may also get hurt by the squirrel.
The second problem is that he barks. Not just a little cute bark, but a LOUD high pitched bark that hurts your ears! I am worried that he would annoy the neighbors.
Any suggestions??

I have a very similar problem, My Jack has all the squirls marked for death. and like yours, barks non stop while the squirel sits on the wire shaking its tail and churpping at her. And unfortionatly there is nothing i can do about it.
If your dog is anything like mine, you dont have to worry a whole bunch about him getting hurt by the squirel. The times they have caught the damm thing, it didnt live long enough to do any damage.
as far as the noise, as long as its during the day it shouldnt be a big deal. If you stick your head outside during the day you can usually hear all kinds of dogs. Keeping it from driving you crazy is the secret
